A rooftop tent is a tent mounted on top of the car roof that you climb up to via a ladder. They have long been a common sight in countries like Australia and New Zealand, and in recent years interest in Sweden has exploded.
– We started our rental business in Åre last year and immediately noticed great interest. Our customers loved it and now we want to give more people the opportunity to try a new way to camp and vacation, says Elisabeth Standár at The Rooftop Tentters.

Rooftop tents coincide with several ongoing trends right now such as glamping, more comfortable camping, and the increased interest both in outdoor life and vacationing at home. 2021 has also been declared the Year of the Rooftop Tent by Huskypodden, one of Sweden's largest outdoor podcasts.
– Rooftop tents are an exciting niche – more comfortable and easier than a regular tent and cheaper and freer than a motorhome or caravan, says Elisabeth Standár.
Renting rooftop tents – a more sustainable option for many
Elisabeth thinks it is important to offer the possibility to rent because it gives more people the chance to try rooftop tents.
– For many, it can be a better and more sustainable option to rent a rooftop tent than to buy one.
Among The Rooftop Tentters' customers, the feeling of freedom is highlighted as the main advantage of rooftop tents. Being able to decide for yourself where to set up camp and what view you wake up to. Rental in Stockholm in collaboration with GetOut Events

The rental is in collaboration with the activity company GetOut Events and the rooftop tents are picked up at their premises in Västerhaninge. A good location due to the proximity to the Gotland ferries, as Gotland is a popular rooftop tent destination.
