Här är taktältarna du kan följa i sommar

Here are the roof tenters you can follow this summer

The winners of our competition who will borrow roof tents from us and share their adventures on our Instagram account.

When we went out looking for people who wanted to test our roof tent this summer, we received over 300 applications! It has not been easy to choose the winners but now it is done and soon you will be able to follow their journeys with roof tents in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark on our Instagram account.

All three winners will be testing roof tents for the first time and share their experiences, adventures, and maybe a mishap or two. In other words, there will be plenty of inspiration on our Instagram account! Here you can read more about the winners and when you can follow them:

Tina Persson with daughter Emmy

When: June 27 to July 2

Tina, 40 years old – not very handy mom and a patient daughter (Emmy 9 years old) who is quite used to mishaps.

Route: Being as directionless as we are means we will stay in the Nordic countries. But with a twist, because we want to do a point-and-go trip. We are traveling at the end of June and equip ourselves with a map. Chance will determine our route.

Expectations for the roof tent trip: Expectations for the adventure are high. We love doing road trips, but we imagine that with accommodation on the roof we can end up anywhere and still have a good time.

Previous camping experience: Caravan with varying success and tents on the ground that have been cold, wet, too hot... we tend to prefer hotels, to say the least.

The Backa Family – Camilla, David, Carla, and Alba

When: July 4 – July 13 and July 29 - August 4

Route: We plan to go to Norway via Åre and then travel through Romsdalen, Geiranger, and Jotunheimen, then continue down to Denmark to visit Møn and Skagen. After that, we will return to Östersund via Sweden.

Expectations for the roof tent trip:

We believe it will be a fantastic experience! Partly because of the nature and everything we will get to experience, but especially through roof tent camping. We look forward to being able to stop wherever we want and that it will be much easier than with a regular tent.

We think this will make it easier for us to go camping with the kids! We have managed some tent nights with our oldest daughter, but something we have not appreciated then is all the work that comes with carrying/setting up and taking down the tent. Many times it has also meant poorer sleep quality due to damp ground and worse sleeping pads. Therefore, we believe that roof tents are perfect for us!

Previous camping experience:

We have both lived a lot in tents before, from childhood to adulthood, mainly on mountain hikes and vacations. As children, it was also cozy to just camp out in the garden! We have traveled a lot by car in the Alps, Sweden, and Norway but have also stayed in cabins which is comfortable but less adventurous. Often you also need to book well in advance to even have a chance to get a spot. Now it feels fantastic that we can decide where we want to stay more spontaneously!

Kajsa och Fredrik Mithander ska testa taktält för första gången

Kajsa Gustavsson and Fredrik Mitander

We who will roof tent are Fredrik and Kajsa and are 32 and 29 years old respectively. Fredrik is from Värmland and works as a craftsman and Kajsa is from Småland and works as a soldier.

When: July 14 – July 28

Route: Our plan for the summer is to go up to Lofoten and stop at places we see along the way that look nice, very spontaneous and simple! From Lofoten we will continue towards Tromsø if the days have not gone too fast and then further down into Sweden again. The idea is to do some day hikes up nice peaks and maybe a two- or three-day trip if we find a nice route.

Previous camping experience: We are experienced hikers and campers as we both grew up with a great interest in forest and nature. We have both hiked a lot in the Swedish mountains but also in Norway and the Alps. We have camped in tents in various ways many times, but never in a roof tent, so this will be incredibly fun to try!

Expectations for the roof tent trip:

We have chosen not to plan the trip in detail because we want to be able to take advantage of the freedom of having a roof tent, so everything will be very spontaneous. We will try to let nature guide us simply, which we think fits very well in combination with roof tent camping!
